"Rather than let East German politics once again deform the whole country, Germany must have the confidence to use the full weight of the western Rechtsstaat – the law-based state – to make sure that we never again have to see what we saw last weekend in Chemnitz. It really is the only language these people understand."

Thomas Mertens hat gesagt…

It depends. Some people in my filter bubble want to get rid of saxony and to rebuild the german wall, but this time 5 meter higher.

But this is not mainstream, but many people in western germany are appalled by the szenes in Chemnitz/Dresden/Freital

I do not think it is an ethnonationalist argument, more political culture. Many people from eastern germany grew up in an autocracy, are still calling for a strong state with a strong hand.

I did not read enything by Max Weber, maybe I have to do it.
